สารสกัดจากใบหมี่เป็นสมุนไพรธรรมชาติที่ใช้ทั่วไปในการผลิตแชมพู ครึมนวดผมของภูมิปัญญาชาวบ้าน จากการศึกษาพบว่า สารสกัดใบหมี่ ช่วยบำรุงหนังศีรษะ ทำให้เส้นผมดกดำ และมีคุณบัติสามารถลดแรงตึงผิวได้ ซึ่งทำให้ใบหมี่มีคุณสมบัติในการทำความสะอาดเช่นเดียวกับสารเคมีที่ใช้ทำความสะอาด นอกจากนี ยังพบว่าใบหมี่ยังช่วยต้านการอักเสบ ต้านเชื้อแบคทีเรีย ทั้งยังช่วยบำรุงผมและหนังศีรษะ
