Properties: It is a crystal inserted in the wood of the camphor tree that occurs throughout the tree. It is usually found in a crack of the heartwood. Camphor powder is small round, white and dry flakes that may clump together and crumble easily and leave in the air to sublimate completely. In Thai medicine textbook, the camphor is hot herbal used topically to relieve pain, swelling, sprains and allergy to insect venom. It is a mild antidepressant, sweaty, pituitary, urinative, antipyretic and carminative. Camphor is readily absorbed through the skin and a feeling of coolness is like menthol. It is a a mild anesthetic.
